​​WASHINGTON (Sept. 9, 2026) — The National Transportation Safety Board is providing the following update on its investigation into the Sept. 6 runway excursion accident involving 21 Air Flight 7598, a Boeing 767-33A cargo airplane, at Miami International Airport.

The following information from the cockpit voice recorder (CVR) and flight data recorder (FDR) is preliminary and subject to change.

  • The NTSB recovered the CVR and FDR from the accident site and transported them to the NTSB’s Vehicle Recorder Laboratory in Washington, DC, where they were successfully read out. 
  • The aircraft was equipped with an Acron Aviation (formerly L3Harris) model FA2100 CVR and an Ontic (formerly Honeywell) model SSFDR FDR.
  • The CVR contained more than 2 hours of good quality audio across four channels.
  • The FDR contained approximately 54 hours of data and recorded more than 400 parameters. 
  • The NTSB will convene a CVR group in the near future at NTSB headquarters in Washington, DC, to review the accident flight recording and produce a written transcript.
