Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez's re-election campaign has spent nearly $50,000 on luxury and upscale hotel stays across the country since April, according to a New York Post analysis of Federal Election Commission filings.

The roughly 45 charges total about $47,000, covering her team during a cross-country push to boost Democratic candidates ahead of the 2026 midterms and raise her profile for a potential 2028 run.

The spending hits properties ranked as luxury, upscale, or upper-upscale.

Highlights include $5,044 at The Memphian, a boutique hotel in Memphis with spa services and an animal-themed rooftop bar (rooms typically $200-$600 a night); $1,599 and $2,694 at the four-star Candler Hotel in Atlanta, a historic landmark with an acclaimed restaurant (rooms $130-$600); and $2,274 at The Talbott, a four-star spot in Chicago's Gold Coast (rooms $200-$400).

Closer to home, the campaign dropped $530.46 at the Thompson Central Park in Manhattan and $318 at the Hyatt Seville NoMad.

Additional charges covered ground transport: $1,791 to Golden Class Limo in Queens, $659 to Singh Car Service in Northern Virginia, $1,257 to Sleek Shuttle Service in Memphis, and $1,406 to Blacklane.

The campaign has raised over $37 million this year, much of it from small donors, and still holds nearly $18 million.

This is the same congresswoman who built her brand railing against billionaires, inequality, and the "rigged economy."

The pattern is not new. Earlier reporting documented similar luxury hotel outlays during the "Fighting Oligarchy" tour with Sen. Bernie Sanders, including stays at high-end properties on the West Coast, plus tens of thousands in Puerto Rico on hotels, meals, and a venue rental tied to a Bad Bunny concert appearance.

Critics see the gap between rhetoric and reality as the point. North Country businessman Anthony Constantino, a Republican candidate, told the Post: "All Democrats want to do is take donor money and buy nice things for themselves. AOC is a con artist."

Joseph Hernandez, a GOP state comptroller candidate who fled Cuba, called her a "champagne communist" and added: "I grew up in an actual communist country, where the people in charge lived like kings while everyone else waited in line for bread. Donor or taxpayer money, they spend it like it's their own."

The hotel bills fit a longer record of comfortable travel for those who demand sacrifice from everyone else.

During the "Fighting Oligarchy" tour, Sanders and Ocasio-Cortez were filmed exiting a private jet that charters for up to $15,000 an hour.

Sanders's campaign alone spent more than $220,000 on private jets in the first quarter of 2025.

He later defended the choice on Fox News, saying it was "the only way to get around" to speak to large crowds and that he had "no apologies."

Ocasio-Cortez was separately photographed flying first class on a JetBlue flight from JFK to Las Vegas for a related event. A passenger told the Post she appeared to ignore people trying to greet her and that she was "fighting the system one first-class mimosa at a time."

The contrast is consistent. The same figures who lecture about carbon emissions, private jets for CEOs, and wealth concentration travel in ways ordinary voters cannot.

Sanders has warned about oligarchy since the early 1990s while maintaining multiple homes and using charter aircraft when it suits the schedule.

Ocasio-Cortez's earlier Met Gala appearance in a "Tax the Rich" gown produced an ethics finding over gift rules involving rented items. The current hotel spending arrives while her campaign continues the anti-wealth messaging.

Ocasio-Cortez has also amplified claims of a "national crisis" of "modern-day lynchings" after a series of hanging deaths, most of which local authorities treated as suicides with no evidence of racial terror or outside involvement.

The gap between that framing and the case details has drawn pushback, including from observers who noted the absence of the patterns the letter and her post described.

Campaign finance disclosures are public for a reason. When a politician who brands herself as a champion of the working class and an opponent of concentrated wealth repeatedly directs donor money toward luxury accommodations, limos, and high-end travel, the filings speak for themselves.

Voters can judge whether the lifestyle matches the lectures.
