Brian Keene is a former airline pilot and retired airline industry executive who remains obsessed with airports. So much so that in his retirement, he started AV Pro Designs, a company that manufactures dioramas of famous airports. (They sell them to museums, institutions and "the diorama community," whatever that is.)

In designing the 1:1400 models, Keene draws on both his own experiences as a pilot and archival photographs, recreating the airports as they appeared during certain eras. The company's rendition of JFK is from the '70s and '80s, LAX in the '80s and '90s, for instance.

Their model of BOM (Mumbai's airport) is particularly striking, as they've done the nighttime view.

The company's also done Heathrow and Newark; Hong Kong's Kai Tak and France's Charles de Gaulle are in the works.
